Mod 8 Discussion: Tiering and Scaffolding in My Classroom
Module 8 Discussion
One scaffolding approach I would adapt for my students is the Gradual Release of Responsibility model “I do, We do, You do.” I like this model as it helps students build confidence and independence by moving from teacher support to independent practice. I typically would talk/discuss the CBC and make sure all students are aware of any unknown vocabulary before beginning the lesson as well as during. By adapting the Gradual Release model with collaborative practice, differentiated supports, and ongoing assessment, I can provide students with the appropriate level of scaffolding while promoting independence and mastery of curriculum standards.
