I think one of the major changes would be the use of technology. We have a much greater access to both resources available on the web and opportunities to use technology-based means of expression. In math, the use of manipulatives is growing (hopefully everywhere) to encourage students to have a deeper understanding of the content of math. This benefits all students. Many schools are also embracing hands on science, which is really good for ELLs, providing that foundational experience to developing concepts.
