Mod 8 Video Discussion

The scaffolding videos provided a number of approaches that would be quite beneficial for working with my ELLs in my ELA classes.  I was impressed how the instructor utilized chunking and multiple readings in her examination of the text as well as her excellent use of the graphic organizers. In addition, her connecting the text to the experiences of many of her students also rang true as that is a criteria I insist upon myself. The videos also highlighted the pervasive need for continued vocabulary work and support. The one facet that she was utilizing that I realized that I must pay greater attention to myself is her use of pacing and pause time. This is such an important concept that I can sometimes overlook as I try to work through all of the requirements of our curriculum.
