Although there are many methods to be used in scaffolding, I think the most effective approach to teaching in my personal class settings are semantic analysis and graphic organizers. These two approaches seem to always resonate well with my students.

Being that this generation is so tech savvy I find it easier to teach them when we start with understanding vocabulary. Teaching the words to students in science often prompts them to look up things for themselves on their electronics. To go along with that it engages the kids when reading knowing that they can understand words. To complement the knowledge of the vocabulary I often use graphic organizers in a way that lets the student express their artistic abilities. I often allow the students to draw pictures of the vocabulary words we use in a chapter that match the action of the word along with the definition. This can trigger visual memory and muscle memory to connect the students to knowledge they have attained through these learning methods in my opinion.
