Mod 8 Discussion: Tiering and Scaffolding in My Classroom

One scaffolding approach I would adapt for my students is the use of graphic organizers for essay writing. I would introduce a simple organizer for outlining the essay, including sections for the thesis statement, topic sentences, supporting evidence, and a conclusion. As students become more comfortable with the basic structure, I would gradually introduce more complex organizers that include prompts for analyzing evidence, incorporating counterarguments, and using transition words, thereby supporting their development in writing more sophisticated essays.
