Module 8 Discussion/Tiering & Scaffolding
Before, during, & after approach:
Before reading a passage, I will introduce the vocabulary. The words are written on the board & they are in the passage. I point to the words as I read them on the board. I often define words within the passage as I read.
During the reading passage, I think out loud. I do this so students will know what I am thinking and so they can hear me question myself.
After the passage, we discuss and take notes.
The material(s) used: graphic organizers which can be paired with passage to assist in the decision making process.
