If there was a family of new students from a different country, I would first try to investigate their culture as much as possible.  I would try to understand their history, norms, traditions, and customs. I would have the students share any cultural information they are comfortable speaking about with the classroom so the other students get an understanding as well.  I would try to have them provide examples from their cultural perspectives during lessons.  I would also try to conduct a home or virtual visit to meet with the family so that the parents can understand and appreciate that I am really interested in the progress of their children. 

As an administrator, I would ensure that my teachers know they have my support working with these students.  I would encourage them to perform any of the steps listed above and also make sure the curriculum they are teaching incorporates the cultures of these students.
