Mod 8 Discussion: Tiering and Scaffolding in My Classroom
One scaffolding approach I would adopt for my students is tiered vocabulary instruction with visual supports, and sentence frames. Since many ELL students struggle with vocabulary and comprehension, this approach allows all students to engage with grade level content, while receiving support based on their language proficiency. Some adaptations that I would make to the approach would be modifying the instruction to create different levels of support for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of ELL's.
