English Language Learners (ELLs) having longer period of engagement with “first language” content instruction is significantly important because it builds a strong academic and linguistic foundation that supports a smoother transition into secondlanguage proficiency. Bilingual immersion with classmates, teachers, and other native speakers is also important because that will help them prepare as they transition from high school to college or as they start their professional career. As a Health Science teacher teaching nursing assistant course to high school students, it is very important that we incorporate  bilingual immersion. Students must be able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds. Developing strong communication skills and cultural competence is a critical component of preparing them for success in healthcare settings. In addition, teachers must be wellprepared to support ELLs by understanding each learners stage of language acquisition and tailoring instruction accordingly. Collaboration with the student’s English teacher is essential to ensure their learning needs are addressed in alignment with the academic content being taught.
