Mod 11 Discussion: Teaching Critical Literacy

One of the techniques that I will employ as a teacher will be the technique where the learners will write down those important aspects that confuse them or those aspects that interest them from a reading material. This will be beneficial since this will ensure that the learners stay actively involved and also provide them with material for discussion after the reading process.

This will be modified when used by ELLs by providing learners with room to draw, provide sentence frames, or answer in short phrases. During discussions with partners or within small groups, the learners can make use of the materials provided and explain their thoughts and pose questions.
