Reflection on Assignment 1

My area of focus for this was making sure students understand the roles and functions of the executive branch and to not confuse them with those of the legislative branch. What was challenging about this is that there are a lot of important key terms in both topics and while students did seem to demonstrate a level of mastery over the legislative branch they were beginning to confuse some roles between the two, for instance the legislative branch can declare war but the executive is commander in chief and leads the military. A formative assessment was done at the end of the lesson but the success rate was around 58% or 60%. This data will be used as a review before the state DPMA in December to increase competency levels.
