Reflection on Assignment 1

I chose to use a text from the unit we will be working in the coming weeks for ELA.  I wanted to get a good idea of some strategies and structures I can implement for the text.  My biggest concern is that students won't be able to identify how the text feature/text structure contributes to the meaning of a text.  From my observations and data, students are comprehending texts at a surface and literal level. 

The accommodations/modifications took the most thought.  It was challenging because I didn't want to plan an accommodation/modification that would provide so much support that the student could arrive at the correct answer with little to no effort/thinking on their end.  

My outcomes are that students will identify how text structures and features contribute to the meaning of texts.  Additionally, students will identify the meaning of figurative language and unknown words/phrases.
