Mod 11 Discussion
I like the idea of alternative texts. It asks for a recollection of events but gives them the freedom to be creative with a response. Explain what happened but using a different character or tell the story from someone else's perspective are both good ideas to use. I could see this being implemented in Civics when we talk about the events that lead to the Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It would be good to 'flip' the narrative and see how the students would view the King and how he saw events unfolding when the colonists were protesting. Or perhaps to replace a founding father with a made up character and see what input, if any, they would add into the Declaration of Constitution.
