Module 5 Video Discussion
Based on these videos, share an example of a criterion-based assessment that you would now develop and apply to a lesson you are about to deliver to your classroom. What would your interim assessment look like?
If I was in the Classroom, I would continue to use the rubric form because it simplifies my expectations to the student how they will be assessed on the assignment straight from the standard. In the world of Autism, we stress writing the vision and making it plain/write the expectation and making it clear. Although, I absolutely enjoyed watching the student engaged assessment and believe I could use this assessment with my level 2 kiddos, I think I would continue using the rubric for my level 1 students.
I love the idea of students taking ownership of their own learning and tracking their own progress because so often i hear a student say a teach failed me or a teacher gave me a “c”. This will allow a student to understand exactly why they received the grade they received.
I also like the thumbs up thumbs down as a whole group because it reminds me of the rubric I already us for my level 3 students.
