An interm assesment that is criterion based that I have used is a "grade each other and I grade you" assessment of a presentation of a concept that was taught during the unit.

The assignment was for small groups to create a visual/digital presntation about the key concepts of different ecosystems. At the beginning of the unit the students were made aware that this was going to be one of their more important unit grades. I created a 1 through 5 rating system and a rubric for what a successful presentation would cover.

We spent two weeks on the unit. Half way through each week we would review the rubric and compare it to what we learned in the lessons-this also worked as a formative assessment. Half way through the second week I had students make exit tickets for their understanding of the concepts and what was expected in the presentations, to make sure the students were understanding, and to assess my lessons.

Students were given time to create their projects and then time was alotted for them to present. The class was given grading sheets with group names on them, and the rubric on the back. ( The lost rubric rate is still about 25% no matter when or where I have been teaching). Students gave their presentations, and graded each other. I additionally, graded each group and the scores were averaged.
