Alright, so it is probably redundant, but frontloading vocabulary is of utmost important for all content areas. I think all teachers understand why and actively work to do so; each course is it's own domain of knowledge with its own jargons that comes with it that students are expected to know, so they need to equipped with the language skills needed to comprehend the subjects. However, I think it is worth saying because last year I had two different admin walkthroughs where they dinged me because students were "just taking notes." I mean, if it was more of a medium thing I would understand as I learned real quick that notes can just as soon be graphic organizers, but it just seems like a lot of higher ups see kids writing down notes and go into some panic that they are just copying things instead of just taking the first steps for a new topic. I feel like, with this course, I can better communicate my plans to them in ways that make sense academically.
