My take-away from Module 1.

From the videos and articles, I have learned that cultural inclusion in language, the use of various methods to aid in metacognition, and the use of AI, prove to be effective methods to help ESOL students succeed.

I do not think I will get to see a setup like the one in Chicago in my career, but I can always try to support anything that attempts to be like it. Being aware of cultural differences in communication with my students wil always make them feel like I care, and will help them continue to try their best in communicationg.

My current assignment is science. I try every unit to make sure there are posters, digital displays, and student made content that suppoprts the unit hanging up. My goal with they science units is to get the students to learn it, not to trick them. I was told by my 11th grade chemistry teacher that the reason scientists know all the names and numbers in the Periodic Table is because they have had a poster of it hanging up everywhere they have worked, not because they memorized it.

Lastly, I have had much succes with the use of different AI platforms in recent years. When used properly, they can save large amounts of time. I did not know much about the use of Ai for ESOL, short of some studdnts using the translation program on their phones to show me what they were wanting to say. I plan to do more research into what AI programs  can help me in my subject, and with my ESOL students.

I agree with your last point. I love AI for helping me get my creative thoughts flowing. I feel like AI is great for adults. I'm not sure how I feel about AI being used by individuals just learning how to speak English. Would AI be able to accurately help them understand something more complex? In my experience, AI is great, but still makes mistakes! Needless to say, I love AI, but it is not a great solution if the user doesn't understand the English language fluently.
