Scenario Response No. 7
Lyon Scenario Response 7
Well then. May is a little late to be considering that the groups are getting complacent. Shame on me! Being the last month of the school year, I'd be remiss to flat out change the groups. I need that shake up like I need a whole in my head (they don't call it manic may for nothing after all.) All jokes aside, I would try and approach a change to the group compositions by reevaluating group purposes. The Jigsaw method would be a good technique to employ I think. It wouldn't change the groups, but it would change the dynamics since now that group is responsible for delivering their particular information to the class. You could also take another approach, thought I can't remember it for the life of me, where the group study as if in the jigsaw method, but after the group covers there particular portion, one stays at the table and the others rotate. The students who are staying at the table will then teach each new group about their particular topic of the lesson. After a full rotation, the group members can then relay about the other topics to the leader who stayed at their station. This can help expand from just the same group and creating a multitude of new student combos. Of course, waiting until May to shake things off is likely not best practice, so I'll be sure not to let things advance to that point in my own classes, haha.
