Mod 2 Discussion: What the Research Means to Me
Mod 2 Discussion
I find it interesting how ELLs come to the United States, and they are immediately thrown into the classroom. They are expecting to immediately jump in and start learning. We can get students that are not fluent in English at all. I feel like it is important for teachers to become aware of the best practices to helping ELLs become successful in the classroom. We should treat and support our ELLs as much as we support our ESE students.
I completely agree with you! However, I think it would be even more beneficial and favorable to have a bilingual class where they slowly learn English and are taught in their native language. I was fortunate enough to teach at a bilingual school for the first 3 years of my teaching career and two of the teachers in my grade level were the bilingual classroom teachers. Their students were so impressive and learned so much! I wish every school was like that!
