Mod 1 Discussion: Classroom Implications of Linguistic Theory
Mod 1
After reading through the passage, I can understand why it is important t refrain from correcting students. I feel like correcting the students, especially ELLs, with knock their self-esteem and confidence down.
Instead of correcting them by saying "it is not pronounced like that" I would do things like I do with my children when I talk to them. If they say something like "I runned over the spider". I will say "Oh! You ran over the spider. That is so awesome!". I will repeat what they have told me but using correct grammar. This way they can think about what they said and what I said.
