The teaching techniques showcased in these transcripts prove highly beneficial for me in my role as an ESE Math educator working within a self-contained classroom environment. My students benefit from mathematical concept processing through writing to learn tasks that include quick writes and reflective questions which meet their unique learning requirements. Students who face challenges with abstract thinking or language proficiency benefit from these informal tasks because they allow learners to demonstrate their understanding gradually which enhances their confidence and leads to better understanding. The focus on scaffolding and clear expectations meets the strategies I use to teach students by dividing complex problems into smaller steps and helping them with visual supports and guidance prompts. In the future I aim to incorporate collaborative and practical writing tasks that include group problem-solving reflections to promote peer interactions and strengthen key concepts. Low-stakes informal writing assignments enable students to show their mathematical understanding in ways other than equation solving which makes math learning more approachable and interesting. These teaching methods enable me to establish an educational atmosphere in which students enhance their mathematical abilities while simultaneously cultivating critical thinking and communication skills tailored to their specific learning requirements.
