Discussion: Final Reflection

This course has been really valuable in deepening my understanding of how to support English language learners through intentional planning, differentiated instruction, and content integration. I appreciated how it emphasized research-based strategies like vocabulary scaffolding, cooperative learning, and fluency development across all subject areas—not just ELA. One of the biggest takeaways for me was how critical it is to build background knowledge and explicitly teach academic language in every content area. It was also helpful to learn how to use assessments more meaningfully to guide instruction. Overall, the course gave me tools I can immediately apply in my classroom.
