Reflection on Assignment 2
Reflection on Assignment 2
For this assignment, I actually went ahead and completed the entire ESOL planning template—even though I realized afterward that we were only supposed to do sections 1 and 2. Oops! That said, doing the full lesson plan gave me a better sense of how all the pieces connect, which I think will help later when I revise or expand it. My biggest focus while planning was making sure the lesson was meaningful for all learners, especially my ELL students. I thought a lot about how to scaffold vocabulary and provide enough support for citing text evidence, which is something many of my students struggle with. It was also a challenge to find the right balance between science content and language objectives, but using an integrated approach made that feel more natural. Overall, I’m happy with how the lesson turned out. I think the visual supports, small group strategies, and leveled texts will really help close the gaps in vocabulary and comprehension while keeping the students engaged.
