Mod 19 Discussion: Taking the Lead on Literacy

For early childhood and ESE teachers there are many content areas that we teach in a day. One approach that I would use is the internet and/ or pictures to help describe what the process would be for the ESOL students. Many times the students come in to the classroom and have never bee in the United States, so showing pictures of what we want the students to do or accomplish helps them understand what they are supposed to do. This can be for academic learning or social learning. We have many students from Guatemala and they have never seen a computer or mouse. Taking them to the computer and and shoeing them how to use the computer/ mouse gives them scaffold instruction to be able to successful use a computer.
