A formative assessment I like to use a "vocab jeopardy" game with my students. There students are presented a question with two vocabulary choices and the first student to buzz in with the correct response wins a point for their team. I have also done this for math. The students love the 'game' aspect and the peers constantly positively encourage and learn from each other. 

I like the give feedback and a description based on our experiences. I believe students are more enticed to listen to you when you make content relatable. They see the content as a real and relatable situation rather than just an unimportant concept.
