Module 1: Goals for This Course and Thoughts About Article

The article had a powerful message that I hope many take to heart. The author was reflective about her own mistakes and ways in which she is actively trying to be accountable and hold others accountable. I hope that many more will do the same. Because my background is in English and theatre, I am very aware of my humanity, but also of my privilege. I try to take time for discussions like these in my classroom, any time my students have questions or thoughts. 

For this course, one goal is to have a better understanding of second language acquisition and how educators can support in the classroom. I would also like to make it a goal to find ways in which I can use this information in my high school classroom, with older students.
