Whole group learning for introducing new topics would begin with explicitly teaching academic vocabulary. This helps students to keep referencing or focusing on those words as learning progresses. Have students lead discussions for whole group learning. All structured activities should use the gradual release method. Providing prompts and supports with clear visual aids that are used and referenced throughout the lesson. For “Elbow/Knee” Buddies students can do think, pair, and share exercises. These exercises can lead to small group debates/discussions about specific topics. If more assistance is needed, one-on-one, the teacher can provide feedback based on specific areas of improvement.
