Adapting reading instruction for second language learners is

more than just simplifying texts. It requires targeted support in vocabulary, phonological skills, and comprehension, along with scaffolded and differentiated practices that address the unique needs of each learner. By incorporating flexible grouping, using a variety of teaching tools, and providing continuous feedback, teachers can foster an inclusive learning environment where all students, including ELLs, can thrive academically.
