Non-Text

1. Does resource meet the core curriculum state Benchmarks guidelines.

2. Is the resource, and activities  appropriate for the grade level.

3. Is the resource used to enhance/or replace the lesson.

4. Does the resource avoid uncensorious bias.

5. Does the lesson differentiate for ELL students.

Being able to implement a Non-text into the curriculum to help aid or add more is often something that needs to bee looked into. Sometimes if not read fully the information could hinder a students learning especially an ELL student. Its often best to run information through to a lead teacher or another teacher teaching the same subject. The language of the text is another factor if you are dealing with ELL learners.

Curriculum based text is often easier to use since its what's provided for teachers. Fillers are often need to make the lesson more engaging, but we need to also think about the text and how it is presented. Often fillers are not on grade level so it will need to be modified to meet that grade standard.
