In order to understand a students behavior we first need to understand the student. Reading and informing myself on the students past academic and behaviors can give me a clear picture on how to help the student. Also learning about his cultural background, and information from the parent on the students learning behaviors. With this information I am able to observe the student and monitor where he/she needs attention for improvement. I treat all my students fairly and equally. The objective in my classroom is for the students that enter it feel safe, welcoming and heard. My goal as a teacher is to model the behavior I expect in my classroom. 

While in class I remind the students of the rules and expectations of the classroom this is because as the months go by the students often forget. I applaud good behaviors, I redirect them and remove students if needed. I feel that FBA plan is similar to the one we use in our school called the CMR. This tracks the students and the Dean is able to assist the students to come up with problem solving idea to manage their behavior. 

Why is awareness of culture so important? I believe it is important because we are all different and we view things differently. Certain things that we say or do may be offensive to others even if its normal to us. So as teachers we are great at comforting students but certain students a hug or a pat on the back may seem inappropriate so we need to understand that and not be offended. That is why understanding culture is important because we are not all a one size fits all.
