Criterion-referenced assessments are utilized to measure a student's proficiency of a specific skill or topic. These assessments are often used in classrooms and in large-scale standardized tests. Some examples of criterion-referenced assessments include chapter tests, chapter tests, novel studies, etc. My favorite of these would be the novel studies as they allow open discussion and for the students  to be able to dig deeper with the texts and build  their comprehension skills and abilities.
