Mod 13 Discussion: SIOP discussion

SIOP is a cross cultural practice because it takes into account diverse learners throughout the process; from Lesson Prep to Review and Assessment.

The SIOP Guide outlines 8 parts to a lesson.  During the Lesson Prep, the teacher "chooses content concepts that fit with the educational background of students."  Throughout the lesson, different strategies and activities are suggested in the guide to work in small groups, for teacher scaffolding, and ways to review and assess.  Each activity can be modified and differentiated to meet the cultural and language backgrounds and needs of the students.
