Mod 7 Discussion: Language and Learning

Different culture does not just mean from a different country, but any goup, such as women in a predominantly male workplace such as STEM. Being sentitive to other cultures and embracing them can lead to a more cohesive, positive, and successful workplace.  When everyone feels involved and included, they feel more confident and motivated.

The NSF site has many helpful resources.  The one that really stood out to me was the NSF Impacts - how funding helped launch different ideas and projects.  The internet, being one, is something most cultures use.  It is something that is the same among all cultues.  One project funded by NSF was Duolingo, and NSW helped make ASL become recognized as a language. 

The NSF site outlines its focus on education; STEM in classroom, learning outside the classroom, and bringing STEM to underserved communities.
