I use often graphic organizers because help me to structure the ideas in reading comprehension. This kind of approach can be used either at the beginning of a lesson or at the end, to compare previous/post knowledge. The ESOL students, due to their language barrier, need the ideas broken and simple in the beginning.

I make slides where they can edit the information and complete practice using the vocabulary. I also present the essential questions as a guide but add specific questions between sections during reading.
