Scenario Response 2
Module 4- Scenario 2 discussion
ELL learners have lots of benefits from visual activities. They can relate it to their native language and can understand better what they are reading. I had a tutoring experience with a student whose primary language was Creole and mine is Spanish. We had to connect both languages to English. The use of visuals, images, clip art, letters, and even body language helped meaningfully in the beginning. We were able to communicate throughout that during the first two months.
Another approach is scaffolding the activities. I always tell the students that “less is always better than more” when we are g to going provide an answer. If the material they have to read is simplified, the student will be able to comprehend better the content.
