Module 4: Scenario 2
In this scenario with a student who is demonstrating grade-level reading and decoding, I would introduce reciprocal teaching/reading strategies. For instance, by teaching this student to make predictions, create questions about the text, find unfamiliar vocabulary, and summarize what was read all work to bolster metacognition.
By building metacognitive skills, this student will gain awareness that reading is active, thought provoking, and illuminating.
