Mod 13 Discussion: SIOP discussion

The SIOP method is cross cultural because it is inclusive, promotes language development, provides differentiated instruction, and promotes culturally aware instruction.

SIOP naturally incorporates learners cultural backgrounds into the learning process. This makes the lesson more relevant and easier to engage for diverse backgrounds. This method of structure not only focuses on developing academic language, but also content knowledge which progresses learners through the lesson and further improves their language acquisition. The differentiated instruction provided from using the SIOP format scaffolds the learning for all learners within a classroom.
