The language acquisition theory that most applies to this student is Krashen's Input Hypothesis, which emphasizes the importance of comprehensible input in language acquisition. Given that the student is in the "silent" phase and is primarily listening and absorbing language input, providing rich and comprehensible input is essential for her language development.

 

To support this student's language acquisition, I would focus on creating a language-rich environment in the classroom with plenty of opportunities for meaningful interaction and exposure to English language input. This could include using visuals, gestures, and real-life context to make the language comprehensible. Additionally, I would encourage peer interactions and collaborative learning activities to provide opportunities for the student to engage with the language in a supportive and interactive setting.

 

Furthermore, considering the limited support for English language learning outside of the classroom, I would explore ways to involve the parents in their child's language development. This could involve providing resources and support for the parents to learn basic English themselves or facilitating communication with the help of interpreters or translated materials. Engaging the parents in their child's language learning journey can help reinforce language acquisition and create a more supportive learning environment both at school and at home.
