To be honest, I tend to go towards beginning phonics and starting from scratch because when you’re switching languages, a lot of the letter sounds do not compare to English. So teaching them from the start seems to be the easiest for me, especially if they’re just a level one ELL that just got here from another country and only know maybe high and bye. Pass that I do try graphs word, blending boards breaking words down into syllables are utilize because they are a great way to teach commonly use words that they will need in real life while they are living here. Include things like bathroom, pencil pen call phone anything that you’re gonna need in real life. Those are basically their version of sight words.
