The National Science Foundation's report on diversity in science and engineering programs points out the need for more multicultural representation. Cultural biases can affect how students view certain subjects, steering them away from areas where they feel less confident. However, addressing these biases positively can encourage students to lean into those subjects. Overcoming cultural biases is vital for creating inclusive environments and promoting acceptance in our classrooms. As educators, we should all be striving for safe and inclusive learning environments for all of our students, not just our ELL's.

Another useful resource that can be found in support of teaching to multiculturalism on the NSF site is the Diversity in STEM Education section.  It contains lots of good stuff from curriculum materials to professional development tips. You can also find strategies, initiatives, and programs to make STEM education more diverse and inclusive in your own classroom/school.
