Mod 11 Discussion: Teaching Critical Literacy

I really enjoyed the bookmark technique. I think this is a great way to engage the students and give them some choice in which they can use and discuss. The students can fill out the four bookmarks and can have the choice to use one in discussion or they can even be told to choose a specific number and join groups to discuss what they wrote. This will help them analyze the text even deeper and get them to decide which way is best to help them understand the text. As my students are doing a novel study in my classroom, they can do the bookmarks per chapter in the morning and we can use it as a discussion piece for the day. This will ensure the students are reading and engaging with the novel.
