Mod 5 Discussion: Formal and Informal Assessments

A formative assessment I have used in the past is "Peer Review", where students buddy up and review each other's work. This seems to be a very positive learning experience for the students, as getting praise from a peer for good work means a lot to them. Also, it allows for another perspective (that isn't the teachers or theirs) to be seen and possibly implemented.

One from the lesson I would like to use in the future is the "Discussion Starter Cards", which allows for students to have cards to help start conversations about what they had learned, what they thought of the topics, and various other topics. It seems extremely useful to help start off a serious educational discussion between two classmates, especially if they cannot think of a way to begin. I also believe it helps to prevent getting off topic easily.
