Mod 9 Discussion: Oral Language Support in My Classroom

One of the key principles mentioned in the article is to provide a focus question.  This ensures that the conversation is centered and does not amble away from the main topic.  Using sentence starters are very helpful to the students because they help frame ideas about what is being discussed.  They also make it easier for the students to provide a proper academic response.  The sentence starters help guide the student towards keeping their focus on the primary question that was asked.
