When teaching these students who have extra needs, I would do several things to ensure I am building and focusing on their fluency. First, I would consistently model reading fluency and give these students plenty of examples of what reading fluency looks like. I would also encourage these students to have independent reading time to build their fluency skills. Additionally, I would provide differentiated instruction to these students by pulling them into small groups and giving them additional fluency practice and resources.
