The student is in the silent phase, and the Brain Based Theory applies best to this student. The Acquisition Versus Learning Hypothesis suggests that the student will listen better than they produce. I would continue to front load as much information as possible during my reading and writing lessons. I would also have the student complete work with a partner. This way the student can learn more from their English speaking peer.
