Mod 14 Curriculum Selection Activity 1

A good text and non-text selection criteria will include some of the following:

1.Does it meet Florida State Standards requirements?

2. Does it provide ample opportunity for practice and application for all students,  ELL, regular English-speaking students?

3.Does it provide adequate use of technology to be incorporated into the lesson,i.e., slide presentation, internet research, ect.?

4. Does it connect prior knowledge of all students to the content and language areas?

5. Is the vocabulary content appropriate to the age-leveled students using the curriculum,i.e., and is it geared to modifications for 1,2, or 3 leveled students?

6. Can it be used for multicultural student populations?

And lastly,  

7. Does it hold to the high rigorous standards of the district?  Florida State Standards and Best Practices?

These are some of the more vital questions that should be answered as a curriculum under view for acceptance in a district where multicultural students are being taught.
