Mod 2 Discussion: Getting to Know Our Students and Why
Module 2 Discussion
Students from other countries have norms, views, cultural ideals, and standards that guide who they are and how they view the world.
A teacher who is concerned with teaching such a student should be interested in the students background and culture in order to determine what the appropriate strategies to use to best benefit the student.
Using reading strategies is just a simple easy way to find out more about the likes and dislikes of each student in the classroom.
Using this type of strategy helps the teacher learn and connect with the students individually which helps to create a bond between the student and the instructor not only in the learning process but on a personal level. The more a teacher can understand the student the better they are able to assist with the needs of the student.
