It is important to know and understand our ELLs in order to build a strong relationship with them. This is the foundation for effective teaching and learning. By getting to know all my students, but especially my ELLs, I can better understand the unique backgrounds, experiences, strengths, and challenges. This understanding helps me create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn.

Culture plays a large role in the lives of ELL students. By embracing and acknowledging their cultural backgrounds I hope to foster a sense of belonging and create meaningful connections to students. This would enhance their engagement and their overall learning.
