Mod 14 Curriculum Selection Activity 1

With regard to selection of school guidelines for selection of both textbooks and non-textbook materials, my school district takes a very strong stance on what is embedded into the curriculum and what is not.  Currently there is a big push for district oversight in this area and as such, my comfort level in engaging in this exercise creates a higher level of anxiety as it pertains to providing my professional opinions and thoughts in this section.  Our district, academic departments and as well governing school board has very strict parameters as to all the what our student body/families are exposed to and in what platforms they receive it in.  All materials, textbook or non-textbook materials must go through a rigorous approval process before they make it into the classrooms these days.  It is a big shift and has many frustrated about teacher autonomy, being able to reach/accomodate for all learners, and planning for quality instruction at the present time.  I requested information on being able to use our district processes for this activity purposes, and to the date of this submission, I have yet to receive what I am looking for.
