The video in which the Frayer Model was used in a Middle School English classroom showed how successful a classroom discussion can be when students take leadership and control of the conversation. I think the “think/pair/share” model can be significantly improved with discussion “facilitators” for the class, helping guide the conversation through multiple points and clearing space for all students to share their ideas. Rather than a rote, circling through the classroom with each pair sharing their point and then moving to the next, this model successfully allows students to draw their own connections between ideas and develop a higher quality of understanding of the source content.
